Can I add cane to a chair?

Choose a chair that can be caned. The holes should be drilled in intervals of about 1⁄2 inch (1.3 cm) around the perimeter of the area of the frame you want to cane. Do not attempt to add holes to a regular chair in order to cane it. Only chairs with pre-drilled holes are acceptable for caning.

Cane Webbing and Spline need to be soaked for about 30 minutes for flexibility. If it still seems stiff, soak a bit longer. Don’t try to install cane webbing if it’s still dry enough to crack. Don’t “oversoak” your cane for long periods of time or overnight.
