Can a 13 year old take buscopan?
Buscopan cramps tablets are suitable for adults and children aged six years and over, but should only be used for IBS in adults and children aged 12 years and over. You take them only when you need to relieve painful abdominal cramps, rather than on a regular basis.
Can hyoscine be given to children?
Adult: As hyoscine hydrobromide: Initially, 0.15-0.3 mg 20-30 minutes before a journey, repeat 6 hourly if needed, up to max 3 doses in 24 hours. Max: 0.9 mg daily. Child: As hyoscine hydrobromide: 3-4 years Initially, 0.075 mg, repeated once if needed.

Who should not take Buscopan?
Do not take BUSCOPAN Tablets if:
- You are allergic (hypersensitive) to hyoscine butylbromide or any of the other ingredients (listed in section 6)
- You have glaucoma (an eye problem)
- You have something called ‘myasthenia gravis’ (a very rare muscle weakness problem)
- You have a suspected or confirmed blockage of the bowel.
Is buscopan syrup safe for babies?
Buscopan® works directly where it is needed, relaxing the muscles of the stomach to relieve abdominal pain and cramping. Buscopan® Syrup is banana flavoured and is sugar-free. Buscopan® Syrup is suitable for use in infants as young as 1 month of age.
