Who owns Vogrie Country Park?

Midlothian Council took over ownership of Vogrie House and Country Park in 1975 which continues to this day. The Midlothian Ranger Service is now based within Vogrie House. One of their rangers, Alan, was our tour guide of the House for their Doors Open Days event.

Is Vogrie open?
Gates open 7.30am daily all year round although we close when the wind speed is 45mph or over. We will open 1 hour after the wind drops below this speed. There are 11.5 miles of signed countryside paths through woodlands and the Tyne Valley.

The 2,530-yard par-33 Vogrie Golf Course, situated within Vogrie Country Park six miles south of the Edinburgh city bypass, is reportedly due to close on April 1 with the land returned to a green grass area by Midlothian Council.

During World War II, Polish troops of the 3rd Flanders Rifle Brigade, part of the 1st Polish Armoured Division, were quartered on the third floor of Dalkeith Palace. Today, the Palace is owned by the Buccleuch Living Heritage Trust (registered charity number SC014915).
