What is the difference between NGV International and NGV Australia?
The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia in Federation Square was designed by Lab Architecture Studio to house the NGV’s Australian art collection. It opened in 2002. As such, the NGV’s collection is now housed in two separate buildings, with Grounds’ building renamed NGV International.

The Your NGV Arts Access Program provides free access to NGV exhibitions and learning programs for Levels 3-6 students in inner and outer metropolitan Melbourne who otherwise would not have the opportunity to visit the NGV.

The new NGV building designed by Sir Roy Grounds opened in August 1968, providing a new permanent home for the NGV’s renowned collection and a location for temporary exhibitions.

The Great Hall has an area of 775 square metres, with capacity of 600 for banquets and 1100 for cocktail events. Note: capacities may change depending on artwork installations. NGV venues may be hired for private events only.

Can you buy tickets at the NGV?
Tickets are available in person from the Ticket Desk. Tickets must be purchased in a single transaction. All ticket sales and right of admission is reserved and subject to NGV Terms and Conditions of Public Entry. NGV’s principal address is 180 St Kilda Road, Melbourne VIC 3004.
