How has family impacted your life?
A study that followed children over a ten year period showed that positive relationships among children and their relatives led to more positive, healthy behaviors in life. Their physical health, taking care of themselves and making healthy choices, was connected with their family experiences as young children.
How does becoming a parent change your life?
“You become much more patient. Not just with day-to day-things, but with your future. Before kids, we would see something we wanted to buy, and we had to have it. Now, we’re learning the joys of taking our time, saving up, and budgeting for the really important things in life, like college funds and 401(k)s.
What impact can having a child have on a working parent?
When parents don’t spend more time with their children, it tends to make them more stubborn and aggressive. Sometimes when both the parents are busy at their work and spend very less time at home with their kids, the bond that the children have with their parents suffer. As the kids grow up, this gap may widen.
How did parents influence me?
My parents teach me everyday by example. I value the ability to listen because my dad’s ability to do so makes me more eager to talk to him. I strive to speak up for myself because I see my mom never afraid to do so. I see my parents sacrifice so much of themselves just as other parents do for their children.
Who has the biggest influence in your life?
The most influential people in my life have always been the people closest to me. My family is small but supportive. My parents taught me and my brother a strong work ethic – to aim high, work hard and value your relationships. My parents have nurtured me, guided me and comforted me.
