To find the perfect hat or boonie in your size, measure the circumference around your head just above your ears where the hat is expected to sit. You can then use our hat sizing chart below to determine the best fit. If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next largest size.

How are boonie hats supposed to fit?
A good boonie hat has a wide brim and covers your head and neck. It should also have a chin strap or some kind of retention strap string. Maybe even an insect net. There are plenty of different types.
How do I know what size cap to get?
To measure your head circumference, take a sewing measuring tape or even a string, and wrap around above the ears and across your eyebrows. Please stick your finger under the tape so there is a little room and there you have head circumference! If you fall between measurements go for the next size up.

- Heat up the tea kettle or pot of water until the water begins to boil.
- Hold the hat’s brim to get a good grip.
- Remove the hat from the heat for 30 seconds.
- Turn on the hairdryer to its highest setting.
- Once it’s mildly damp, wear the hat and let it air dry to stretch into the right size for your head.
Why do boonie hats have snaps?
These can include different forms of ventilation (grommets, tunnels, and mesh) as well as snaps that permit affixing the brim to the crown to allow the boonie to become more like a safari hat. Boonie hats are known for the ease with which they can be modified in the field.
How should OCP cap fit?
Service caps are preshaped to an average oval shape. Upon receipt, your service cap should fit snug, but not too tight. Notice that the cap is parallel to the ground and is approximately one inch above the eye brows and ears.
