What does a fisher house look like?
A Fisher House is a “home away from home” where military and Veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment. Families share a common kitchen, laundry facilities, a warm dining room and an inviting living room.

These vital services range from responding to emergency needs for food, clothing, and shelter, referrals to counseling services (e.g., financial, legal, jobs, mental health), information on veterans cemeteries and burial benefits, and other resources that meet the unique needs of local veterans and their families.

A Fisher House™ is a home away from home for families and Caregivers of Veterans and Active Duty Military receiving treatment at major military and VA medical facilities. VA Fisher House accommodations are provided at no cost to guests and located within walking distance of the treatment facility.
